Apple promotional organisation Tentation Club marked the launch of the 2001 season by organising a Tentation day, to which representatives of the international fresh produce industry were invited.

Guests were taken to orchards at Malicorne near Paris where they sampled Tentation apples grown all over Europe and were treated to a commentary on each variety by professional taster Jacques Puisais.

The afternoon included presentations on this season's marketing and promotional strategies, as well as a tour of the orchards at Malicorne.

Tentation Delblush is one of the newest varieties to come out of France, and is now grown in the UK, Italy, the Netherlands and Belgium.

Developed in 1990 in the Delbard nurseries in France, Tentation is a cross between Golden Delicious and Grifer.

Described as a 'delicate, crisp and juicy' apple, Tentation is being targeted at predominantly female consumers.
