Sweden takes on Amcor

Sweden’s largest retailer ICA is the first company to commercially launch Amcor NaturePlus Compostable films within the Swedish fresh produce sector on a range of salad, apple and carrot lines under the “I Love Eco” range.

ICA is using two products from Amcor’s NaturePlus Range. The first is a blown co-extruded compostable film produced at Amcor’s extrusion site in Ilkeston, and the other is made from poly lactic acid (PLA), a corn starch-based compostable film.

Both products are suitable for a range of fresh produce applications, and are printed and converted at Amcor Flexibles, in Ledbury in the UK. The products are certified as compostable by DinCertco under the EN13432 standard.

The growing range of environmental films supplied by Amcor Flexibles - under the Amcor NaturePlus umbrella - enhances Amcor’s position as a leading supplier of environment-friendly fresh produce packaging.

Peter Ettridge, sustainable packaging development manager at Amcor Flexibles Food, said: “The products have been developed as part of Amcor’s drive to produce more sustainable and environment-friendly materials. Sustainability is both our challenge and our responsibility, and we want our packaging to help our customers around the globe meet their own sustainability goals.”
