Food and drink guide publisher SupplyLocal has expanded beyond south-east England to cover the whole of the UK with its listings to promote local producers nationwide.

The company claims its service helps reduce food miles, increase food freshness and support local economies by promoting small independent suppliers in a bid to increase interest in local sourcing.

The service allows food outlets to find local suppliers with one click and give the producers themselves an opportunity to make local businesses aware of what they have on offer.

The pay-as-you-go marketing service was launched last year.

“We believe that this is an untapped market,” said James Humphris, founder, SupplyLocal. “The benefits of sourcing fresh local food, produce and drink are well-documented, but until now, there’s been no easy way to make it happen. We hope to bridge that gap and play a part in supporting Britain’s local producers.”
