Sun World signs up European trio

California grape and stonefruit producer, marketer and breeder Sun World has appointed three new licence-holders in Europe.

In Italy, Apofruit Italia has been granted a licence to distribute Sun World grapes and stonefruit, and Di Donna Trade has been given a licence for grapes, while in Spain, Frunexa has earned a licence for stonefruit.

The nomination of the three companies enables them to market fruit from proprietary varieties grown by licensed Sun World producers throughout Europe.

The new licences fill in Sun World’s European marketer network and supplement the existing European grape marketing licence held by Milan firm, Peviani.

Sun World’s David Marguleas said additional European marketer appointments are pending.

“These three companies are leaders in the European fruit industry and enable Sun World to effectively expand its international grape and stonefruit supply platform,” Marguleas said.

Sun World’s regional licensing manager Maurizio Ventura, who is based near Cesena, Italy, will co-ordinate the company’s European producer-marketer relationships and provide key importers and retailers with critical supply information about the Sun World varieties, he added.

The 22 marketer-licensees market the fruit grown by Sun World producers under a managed planting system involving more than 1,000 producers and marketing companies in most of the world’s major fruit-growing regions.
