Californian fresh produce researcher Sun World has appointed a new vice-president of sales and marketing.

Gordon Robertson is taking over the role, chief marketing officer David Marguleas announced.

Robertson assumes responsibility for all US and international sales and marketing activities and staff. He joins Sun World from Campbell Soup Company where he spent 20 years in various sales and trade marketing management roles and where he most recently served as vice-president of Joint Business Planning.

Marguleas said: “Gordon brings strong food industry knowledge, a passion for managing sales professionals and a desire for Sun World to exceed its customers’ and consumers’ expectations”.

He takes on duties previously held by Michael Aiton who assumes new responsibilities as senior vice president of retail merchandising. Aiton will support Sun World’s North American retail clientele in promoting Sun World products and brands.

“Our customers will benefit from Mike’s creativity and rich knowledge of Sun World’s distinctive product line and Gordon’s passion and knowledge of the food industry. We believe these moves will position Sun World for greater success in the future with our customers,” said Marguleas.

Sun World is a leading innovator in the research, production, distribution and promotion of fresh produce.
