Martin Stimson - Head of Horticulture at Writtle College presenting the Scholarship certificate to Sarah Tull

The School of Horticulture at Writtle College has announced student Sarah Tull as the inaugural successor of the Seabrook scholarship.

Tull, who has recently completed her national diploma in horticulture, will receive £3,000 a year to attend the two-year foundation degree in horticulture at the college. Launched in January this year, the scholarship has been sponsored by Easy Gardener gardening products. The award is named after Peter Seabrook who attended the College in the 1950s and achieved both the college diploma and Royal Horticultural Society master of horticulture degree.

Tull will be taught at the college under the supervision of Martin Stimson, head of the school of horticulture, who is also a Royal Horticultural Society master of horticulture.

Tull said: “I am very pleased to receive the Scholarship and am looking forward to having the chance to study the foundation degree in horticulture. I enjoyed my national diploma in horticulture at Writtle very much, and feel this is the next step for me. My aim after completing the course is to work in an historical or botanical garden… I love working in horticulture and look forward to a long career in the industry.”
