Strawberries may help fight cancer growth, researchers have found.
A study in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry by researchers at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences claimed strawberry extracts appeared to slow the growth of breast and colon cancer cells.
These findings follow a study released in the same journal last year which noted plant compounds in strawberries could cause the self-destruction of cancer cells.
Several institutions have also highlighted the significant level of antioxidants in strawberries, which are thought to prevent the cell damage that leads to cancer.
