Catrin Jones, pictured, from Machynellth, had a surprise gift for her 11th birthday when she became the lucky winner of a Raleigh Chopper bicycle, courtesy of Stubbins Marketing.

Catrin won a competition run by Stubbins, in collaboration with The British Tomato Growers Association, at the Royal Welsh Show last month.

The prize also included a trip for Catrin and her family to Stubbins’ Rhymney Valley nursery, when she was presented with the tomato-red bicycle, by nursery manager Keith Hammonds and Stubbins’ commercial manager Chris Rawlins, from Stubbins.

The competition was designed to educate children about the origins of tomatoes, and directed entrants to the association’s website specifically aimed at children www.thetomatozone.co.uk.

Rawlins said: “The competition proved a great success and drew a lot of hits to the website. We were also delighted to present Catrin with her bicycle, especially as it was so near to her birthday.”
