Stourgarden has launched a new Rosanna pink onion pack to extend the range and raise funds for charity.

Following the success of its three-in-line Rosanna Pink Onion pack, which first hit the market in October 2012, the East Anglian onion specialist has unveiled a new 750g cook’s pack.

The new packs are featuring nationwide in Tesco stores and offer a subtle, mild flavour along with a unique blush to the onion’s flesh colour. Stourgarden describes the bulbs as ideal for both hot and cold dishes.

Stourgarden has also linked up with Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life and says it will donate 2p from each Rosanna pack sold.

Tesco onion buyer, Steven Williams said: “Rosanna Pink Onions have been a real success story since their launch in October 2012.

'The variety offers us a clear point of difference from our retail competitors and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to offer consumers new and exciting fresh products.'

Williams says there has been a noticeable recent increase in sales to the retailer's onion category.

“We are seeing a switch in shopping habits as consumers look to experiment with the new variety, together with an increase in shoppers to the overall category.

“We are also delighted that Rosanna Pink Onions will be supporting Tesco’s partnership with Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life.”

Rosanna Pink Onions are available in packs of three priced at £1 or the new 750g packs priced at 75p.
