Storm threatens Canary Islands

Tropical storm Delta is due to pass to the north of the Canary Islands this evening making landfall in Morocco on Tuesday, according to the Spanish national met institute.

The storm left the Azores after several days presence in the islands and was expected to reach speeds of 100km/h as it neared the Canary Islands.

Meteorologists warned that as much as 30mm of rainfall could fall in an hour or as much as 60mm in 12 hours on the seven-island archipelago.
