Prepared salad brand Steve’s Leaves plans to energise the salads category with the launch of new Baby Spinach & Super Leaves. Containing a mix of baby spinach, watercress, deep red beet leaves and shredded carrot, the new supercharged bag will be available in Waitrose from 28 April.
With 70 per cent of adults eating less than the recommended five portions of fruit and veg a day and more and more consumers inclined to consider plant-based eating, this bag is perfect for more health conscious consumers, the company said.
'Bursting with goodness, the ingredients have been specially selected for their nutritional benefits, including the most nutritionally dense vegetable of them all, watercress,' it said.
Eleanor Bridgman, head of innovation and marketing at Steve’s Leaves, said: “We know that six out of ten adult consumers are increasingly looking for products that support their immune health. Naturally high in Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Folate and protein, our new salad mix supports the immune system, the bones, the brain and provides energy. Watercress is truly a superfood and was named as one of the Future 50 Foods in a report by WWF & Knorr detailing plant-based foods that can boost the nutritional value of meals while reducing the environmental impact of food supply.
'The new Baby Spinach & Super Leaves are grown on farms working hard to enhance nature. They are washed in Hampshire spring water and packed in pillow bags filled with fresh air, which ensures the leaves remain fresh throughout the entire supply chain journey. The perfect portion sized bags also help to minimise waste,' she said.
Baby Spinach & Super Leaves joins colourful Sweet Beets & Little Leaves, peppery Baby Watercress & Little Leaves and sweet Pea Shoots & Baby Leaves as the latest member of the Steve’s Leaves family.
