The sector events, including specific meetings for horticulture, were part of the process over the past few months which has brought together ministers from the department for the environment, food and rural affairs with policy commission members, individuals and representatives of relevant organisations.

Lord Whitty spoke at the final regional event was held in Nottingham last week. 'These were not consultation meetings but events to engage those with an interest in the future of farming and our rural communities in the steps being taken to implement the vision of the Curry report,' the minister said. 'There has been a real determination demonstrated to take forward the recommendations of Curry and turn them into a cohesive realitySI am convinced that the partnership approach which has been demonstrated in these meetings can be taken forward into the future.'
