Kent potato company St Nicholas Court Farms joined forces with Tesco last Friday in raising funds for the Help For Heroes charity with a special event.

Bangers & Mash For Cash was held at Tesco’s Aldershot store, situated at the heart of a military community.

Shoppers were served up a treat in aid of charity, with fresh Maris Pipers supplied by St Nicholas Court Farms and award-winning sausages created by A Turner & Sons.

Eddie Knowles, marketing manager for St Nicholas Court Farms, said: “We have been supplying potatoes into the local Tesco stores for a number of years. It gives us great pleasure to help support Tesco in conjunction with the Help For Heroes charity, which is obviously very close to the local community's heart."

Army chefs in field kitchens set up in the retailer’s car park carried out the cooking for the event.

Customers were asked for a donation of £1.50 for each meal served - with all proceeds going to the Help For Heroes Charity.

Knowles added: “The reaction from shoppers has been astounding.

[This] event is one of many being carried out across the country that will hopefully raise awareness and much-needed money for our troops.”
