Shoppers found themselves sampling everything from sprout coleslaw to sprout soufflé during a demonstration in John Lewis’ flagship Oxford Street store.
The cookery demonstration, part of the British Sprout Growers’ Association’s Sprouts Bite Back campaign, proved a huge hit with customers.
Naomi Wright, spokeswoman, said: “We’ve had a great deal of interest from people trying the recipes.
“The manager of the John Lewis kitchen had seen us at the Good Food Show last year and asked if we’d like to do a demonstration in his store.”
The group drafted in Chef Felice Tocchini to whip up some sprout delights, including sprout, chestnut and smoky bacon soup and deep fried sprouts in spicy batter.
