New Spitalfields has played host to a number of students as its looks to educate young people about fresh produce.
The wholesale market first played host to first year students from Chelmsford Catering college touring the market’s wholesale traders before being given an insight into the catering trade.
The students were able to drag themselves up for a 7am tour before being treated to a full English breakfast in one of the market cafes.
Spitalfields also played host to 29 agricultural students and six lecturers frm North Carolina University the following day, touring the market and studying the produce.
Spitalfields Market Tenants' Association chief executive Janet Hutchinson: “They had a tour of the market site, and we managed to find sweet potato at JT Produce that is grown by the family of one of the students.”
