Councillor Anna Mbachu, mayor of Waltham Forest visited New Spitalfields Market last on December 4 to switch on the market’s Christmas lights and illuminate a 30ft high Christmas tree at the entrance to the market.
The mayor was welcomed by John Olney, immediate past chairman of the Tenants Association who led her on a tour of the market talking to tenants and buyers alike.
Olney presented councillor Mbachu with a cheque towards her chosen charities, The Big Push Appeal for the Whipps Cross University Hospital maternity unit and the hospital’s special care baby unit.
