Morrisons is this week due to name the person in line to replace Sir Ken Morrison.

It is reported that the Bradford-based supermarket chain will name a new deputy chairman, who will move up to the chairman's office next year when 75-year-old Sir Ken steps down after nearly 50 years at the helm.

Media speculation puts Sir Ian Gibson, the former boss of Nissan Europe, at the top of the list of candidates, which also supposedly includes Sir David Arculus, the former chairman of O2, and Sir Michael Hodgkinson, the former chief executive of the airports operator BAA.

Sir Ian was formerly deputy chairman of Asda. He is chairman of newspaper group Trinity Mirror and holds non-executive boardroom positions at bakeries group Greggs and the Northern Rock mortgage bank.
