Spar UK has named a former manager from Camelot UK Lotteries as its new retail development manager in a bid to develop the multinational retailer’s UK business.
Yvonne Fennell will take up her new role on 3 October and will be based at Spar UK’s headquarters in Harrow.
She will be tasked with developing Spar’s UK business “in line with group-wide objectives” and will be working closely with the group’s service providers, such as PayPoint, The Post Office and her previous employer Camelot, the steward of the UK’s National Lottery.
At Camelot Fennell held the position of senior customer business manager, leading the strategic direction of the convenience impulse channel and driving growth and returns to good causes from convenience retailers, including Spar.
She will also use this experience to give Spar conferences, events and awards a fresh new look, the retailer reported.
Ian Taylor, head of retail at Spar UK, said: “Yvonne will play a crucial role in delivering our More Together strategy to existing and potential Spar retailers. Her prior experience and wealth of knowledge within the industry dovetails perfectly with what Spar is looking achieve long term.”
Fennell added: “Spar UK is a defining brand with a strong reputation across the industry. Having worked with all the Spar businesses for over 15 years I am thrilled to be taking up this opportunity in helping continue their success.”
