European athletics and Spar are both set to get a boost from the international retailer’s sponsorship of major track and field events around the continent over the next 12 months.
The first Spar-sponsored meeting was on March 5 in France, when the store sponsored the European Athletics Indoor Cup at Liévin.
Next on the agenda is the Spar European Cup on June 28-29 at a brand-new, nine-lane stadium in Malaga, Spain. Teams from the UK, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Russia, Romania, Sweden, the Ukraine and the host nation will be taking part.
The European Athletics Championships in Sweden on August 6-13 are also Spar sponsored, and it concludes the year with sponsorship of the European Cross Country championships in Italy in December, before backing the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Birmingham in March next year.
