Spanish tomato exports increase

Spanish tomato exports totalled 167,946 tonnes in February, an increase of 18 per cent in comparison with the same period in 2007, according to FEPEX, the Spanish Federation of Fruit and Vegetable Producers/Exporters. The figures show an encouraging recovery for the sector, says the federation.

Export figures for all fruit and vegetables from Spain totalled 997,660t in February 2008, an increase of 0.30 per cent in comparison with February 2007. In terms of their value, exports increased 5.87 per cent to a total of €818 million.
