The Spanish tomato sector is dismayed that, despite European Parliament backing for reform of the entry price system for Moroccan tomatoes, European Commission vice-president Maros Sefcovic has defended the existing system. He declared there is no evidence of its failure or evidence to back claims that large quantities of Moroccan tomatoes are entering the EU fraudulently. “So far the commission does not have any proof of systematic fraud,” said the commissioner.
