Spanish citrus production is to fall after €60 million losses hit the sector hard last season.
Next season, 2,000-3,000 hectares will be no longer in production in the province of Castellon due to the “technical bankruptcy” of citrus growers in this province, according to El Periodico Mediterraneo.
Castellon, which accounts for 22 per cent of Spanish citrus production, saw a decline of about €60m, with sales in many cases below production costs.
