Spanish berries are back on track after the unusually long cold snap, according to international importer and distributor Redbridge Worldfresh.

The company said the extended period of inclement weather has now ended and Spain is reporting a good increase in Strawberry volumes, which should allow for promotional activity in week 12.

Overall demand of raspberry supplies in Europe has also soared following a shortage in Spain and the UK price situation will see a continued lack of competition until supplies become more abundant, Redbridge claimed.

Meanwhile Mexico has been enjoying a strong blackberry season with fruit showing excellent uniformity and taste.

“Consistently excellent arrivals have also helped to maintain confidence in future programmes which are expected to continue for another two months”, said a company spokesperson.
