Spain recycled half of the wooden wooden crates, packaging and pallets it used during 2006, according to figures released this week by Spanish wood packaging federation, Fedemco.
The recylcing rate is running at 55 per cent - up nine percentage points on last year - as part of an overall energy recovering and recycling increase of 20 per cent compared to 2005. This means Spain is running well ahead of 2008 targets under EU directive 2004/12/CE for 15 per cent recycling of wood.
