Spanish producers will need even more space at Fruit Logistica next year, said David Carmona from the commercial section of the Spanish Consulate General.
On display at the show last week was the famous Picota cherry from the Jerte Valley, with the Federation of Co-operatives on hand to represent around 4,000 farmers and growers of the fruit.
The region produces around 20,000 tonnes of cherries a year, half of which are Picota.
“Fruit Logistica is absolutely essential for anyone who wants to make progress in the fruit trade,” said Manuel Amigo Mateos, minister of economics and trade for Extremadura, during a tour of his region’s 250 square metre stand.
