Both groups as well as other stakeholders from the industry will have representation. The CMF is being established as an informal forum aiming to act as a mouthpiece for its members especially on matters relating to the marketing and export of citrus from southern Africa.

One of its main intentions is to bring about the orderly and responsible export of fruit from its members during their season. It also hopes to be able to make decisions on standards and trading terms which will be binding on its membership.

The forum is also planning to organise seminars for its membership, the first of which has already been held this week on exporting to the Middle East. A further workgroup is also planned for the Russian and Canadian markets on April 23.
