South West producers and catering outlets are gearing up for a Exeter Festival of South West Food & Drink with a regal feel.

With more than 15,000 visitors flocking to Exeter for the festival in 2010, the next event is to take place on 29 April - 1 May, 2011

The festival gives food producers the chance to exhibit over a three-day period in at Exeter Castle and its surrounding Northernhay Gardens.

Coinciding with the Royal Wedding, the Friday of the 2011 festival will be a huge royal celebration offering exhibitors a one-off opportunity to make the most of the extended bank holiday weekend and showcase their products to the thousands expected to attend to celebrate the marriage.

Exhibitors are already planning special products with a regal twist and are set to make the most of this one-off opportunity.

Gate revenue in 2010 was up by 20 per cent on 2009 figures, with more people than ever before enjoying the festival and both Festival After Dark evening events in the Castle Courtyard.

Festival chairman and board director Derek Phillips said: “The 2010 event was, by common consent, better than ever. We were blessed by great weather which helped create an amazing atmosphere and now very much look forward to the 2011 festival.”
