South African exhibitors at Fruit Logistica have described the show as a huge success.
Stuart Symington, chief executive officer of the Fresh Produce Exporters Forum, said: “The number of people visiting our stand is quite remarkable. I have travelled 10,000 kilometres in order to attend this unique trade platform. Here I can exchange ideas with neighbours from South Africa, whom I do not see when I am there.”
He said because of the current strength of the rand against the US dollar, exporters are focusing on euro-based markets, with around 44 per cent of the country’s exports going to Europe.
