A driver has been charged with murder after 26 of the 44 fruit-pickers he was transporting to work were killed last week when he drove onto a level-crossing in front of freight train in Mpumalanga, South Africa.

Many of the survivors have horrific injuries after the vehicle was torn in two by the train and dragged for some 200 metres down the line.

Investigation is ongoing, especially into why so many workers were being transported in an open truck to work.
