Sorma Group, one of the world’s leading companies in the production of packaging machines and material, has launched an Easypunnet pack.

The product has been developed from the traditional punnet and net packaging which has been on the market for decades, and can contain several different kinds of fresh produce, including peaches, nectarines, apricots, plums and cherries.

Easypunnet is wrapped in film on three sides of the pack, while the net on top, available in all colours, displays the content and lets the produce breath.

The film is printable with photographic resolution, and it can also be clear to allow more product visibility.

The packaging is available in different sizes ranging from 500g to 2kg.

The application of Easypunnet is fully automised with a high capacity machine FLW-150 specifically designed for this purpose.

Rita Biserni, at the sales and marketing department for Sorma Group, said: “The improvement on the existing packaging is without doubt the ample space available for communication, may this be for produce-related information, or for the use of trademarks and labels.

“Sorma Group recognises the importance of added value in packaging thus the creation of distinctive packs with strong visual appeal.”

The innovative pack has already been installed in some of the major Italian packing houses including Apofruit, Granfrutta Zani and Intesa. They will be mainly used to pack stonefruit, tomatoes, cherries and grapes.

Bierni added: “Although Easypunnet has been on high demand at a national and international level since its launch during Macfrut, the Italian trade show for fruit and vegetables handling equipment which took place last month, we chose to keep it mainly on the domestic market to better monitor its performance.”
