Somerfield targets kids with a summer film on-pack promotion

Somerfield is lending its support to the launch of Disney’s latest film The Wild by offering the chance to win a family holiday to Africa on selected produce packs.

The promotion featured on labels designed and produced by labels and packaging specialists Leading Edge offers consumers the chance to win a family holiday for four to Kenya.

The activity extends the film’s animal theme further with the offer of children’s zoo tickets, while parents can also benefit from £50-off Thomson Holidays vouchers.

Somerfield is running the promotion across a range of produce items for four weeks.

The retailer’s produce category buyer, Margaret James, said the film complemented its aim to entice children towards healthier food options.

“By using a high profile film release such as Disney’s The Wild we were able to create theatre in an appealing and creative way adding real value to the purchase via an on-pack promotional label,” she said.

“The Wild was selected because the film animation has widespread appeal to all children as well as the child in us all. The promotion was the perfect way to reinforce the 5 A Day message to encourage increased consumption of fruit and vegetables as part of a balanced diet.”
