Somerfield has recruited John Feege as the latest addition to its fresh produce buying department.
Feege joins the team as category buyer for brassicas and legumes filling a vacant position within the department.
He comes to Somerfield from the Soil Association, where he worked for two years as an account manager on business development and training. He has also worked for Sainsbury’s as a technical manager and is being tasked with driving forward Somerfield's fresh produce strategy and customer offer.
In his new role, Feege will work on various buying initiatives including continued support for British produce. He will be expected to work closely with Somerfield's technical solutions team on range and varietal development, as well as maintaining relationships with key suppliers throughout the country.
Feege reports to Dominic Edwards, head of category buying, who leads the eleven-strong fresh produce team at Somerfield's head office in Bristol. Feege said: "I am extremely pleased to be joining the Somerfield buying team. I look forward to the new role and developing the vegetable category further."
