Award-winning Somerfield has been quick off the mark to announce its success as Foods from Spain Multiple Retailer of the Year.
The retailer pulled out all the stops to rush out eye-catching photographic point of sale materials to announce its win at last week’s Re:fresh Awards to more than seven million UK customers.
The company said the award has been enthusiastically received, particularly by its store teams, who have dedicated themselves to improving performance on fresh produce quality and availability.
The first new pos posters were rushed direct from the printers to Somerfield’s very latest Market Fresh concept store, opened this Wednesday, May 11, in Putney, London.
The pos material, including posters and banners, pictured below, will be rolled out across the Somerfield estate over the coming weeks and features stylish photography of fruits, along with the statement: “Simply the Best. Fresh Produce Retailer of the Year 2005.”
Dominic Edwards, head of fresh produce buying for Somerfield, said: “It’s key for our business that we highlight our success and the fact our progress is recognised by leading industry awards.
“The pos material will highlight our success at the Re:fresh Awards to our customers and signify the direction we’re taking on fresh produce.”
Staff have been busy preparing the 4,000sqft Putney store for an expectant local customer base. It is Somerfield’s seventh Market Fresh store and the retailer claims it represents the cutting edge of store design, with a visually-appealing, modern and fresh store environment.
The new format places a strong emphasis on the fresh produce section, with fresh foods occupying more than 50 per cent of floorspace.
Keith Rodaway, store manager, said: “Our new Market Fresh store will offer customers something a bit different from a conventional supermarket. We are also very proud that our store will be the first to communicate our success to local shoppers.”
