Solanum joined forces with the Potato Council recently to support The Co-operative’s award-winning Good with Food Roadshow at the New Forest and Hampshire County Show.

The Potato Council’s promotional vehicle was transformed by Solanum, which is part of the Produce World Group, to promote The Co-operative’s Truly Irresistible Corolle potatoes.

Mike Corbett, Co-op development director for Produce World, said: “This sweet-tasting variety, combined with a buttery flavour and firm texture, fits perfectly within The Co-operative’s Truly Irresistible premium range and Solanum is proud to be the exclusive supplier of this quality potato.”

Corolle has been developed by Solanum in collaboration with The Co-operative’s technical and buying teams to satisfy its customers’ desire for a versatile salad potato. Corolle can be baked or boiled and can be eaten all year round.

Solanum’s stand incorporated educational activities, recipe information and potato-tasting sessions throughout the day. Potato experts were also on hand to answer any questions.

Solanum provided retail packs of Corolle, which were sold throughout the show, with all proceeds being donated to The Co-operative’s charity of the year, the RNID. More than £100 was raised.

Neil Moorcroft, category buyer for potatoes at The Co-operative, said: “The New Forest and Hampshire show provided a great opportunity for us to showcase our Truly Irresistible Corolle Potatoes, and also enabled us to receive some constructive feedback from a wide range of consumers.”
