Packaging firm Smurfit Kappa is to advise fruit and vegetable retailers, growers, agents, packers and fillers on how they can sell more across the world - by considering more effective packaging solutions.

Smurfit Kappa Green sales development manager David Bickley will speak as part of The World Fruit & Vegetable Show’s Fresh Produce Packaging Forum on 28 October from 12.15 pm at Excel London.

During the forum Bickley will highlight new consumer branding opportunities for niche ranges and the flexibility for seasonal marketing messages; how new footprint sizes will allow retailers to maximise available floor space and increase their product ranges; and the improvement of in-store logistics via use of graphics for shelf stackers, damage reduction tray designs and efficient use of space via modular corrugated systems among a number of topics.

Bickley said: “This session aims to show how branded corrugated packaging can differentiate products in a competitive retail environment - and how it can be logistically and environmentally superior to other packaging alternatives.

“I hope that it will give fruit and vegetable retailers, growers, agents, packers and fillers an understanding of the branding, design, recycling, supply chain, cost and scheduling considerations - which should form part of their planning.

“I am sure that it will help them to develop market leading packaging which has a high sales performance.”

The show will host exhibiting companies from Sri-Lanka, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Algeria, Egypt and a large number of produce exporting companies from Morocco and Kenya, as well as a number of European countries.
