Andrew Wright, managing director of Long Life Solutions (LLS), one of the leading fresh produce packaging suppliers, appeared on BBC Breakfast this morning as part of its green awareness campaign.
The high levels of food wastage in the UK featured on the show - which included potential solutions from LLS.
The average British family loses £450 a month in food wastage, according to Wright.
He said: “Our products deliver a better eating experience to the consumer. We can eliminate wastage in the supply chain and deliver revenue back to the customer.
Wright said LLS will launch its Fresh Green Solution this month at Morrisons.
Wright showcased the Smartbag and the Smartpunnet, used in Tesco, on the BBC show.
He said: “This is the first intelligent punnet on the market that will inhibit mould growth in the pack and deliver a better product to the consumer.”
Wright added that LLS will look at developing biodegradable products next year.
