The independent retailer buying group Nisa-Today's has just launched a compact range of its Heritage own-label fresh produce offer in small case sizes. The loose and pre-packed range has been specifically designed to help smaller retailers take advantage of the growing market for fresh produce, reduce wastage and shake off the tired image often associated with fruit and vegetables offered at c-stores.

In order to enhance the offer the group's delivery arm Nisachill is has been extended to offer a Premier Service with six-day delivery. Stores can therefore now order a little and often.

'Customers tend to base their quality perception of a store on its fresh produce displays,' said the group's trading controller Andrew Hirst. '– no matter how good the rest of the store is. The smaller case sizes available through Nisa will mean that independent retailers can offer a delicious, attractive and compact range of fresh produce with a limited amount of wastage.' The Heritage range, first launched in 1999, includes class I both loose and pre-packed. There are 85 loose product lines and some 158 pre-packs including seasonal and 12-month availability lines.
