The National Skills Academy for Food and Drink Manufacturing marked its biggest-ever presence at a leading industry event by hosting a series of talks on training and skills development.

The dedicated academy team attended all four days of Food and Drink World 2010, held at Birmingham’s NEC. They took part in three shows, hosting stands at Foodex, the Baking Industry Exhibition and the Food and Drink Logistics Show.

At the Foodex Show, the academy presented a series of briefing theatres on work-based training. Executive director Justine Fosh was joined by representatives from academy network champions and members specialising in food and drink logistics sectors.

Fosh said: “The National Skills Academy exists to ensure the training needs of companies in all sectors of the food and drink industry are catered for to drive up the skills of employees. Food and Drink World 2010 has enabled us to meet with employers directly and offer them advice on skills and training.

"We have been able to find out exactly what they expect from training for their employees and ensure we are providing courses which are relevant to the food and drink industry, both now and in the future.”
