Farming Connect is celebrating six years of helping farming families to maximise the potential of their farm business.

Under the new Rural Development Plan for Wales, which will be launched later this year, a new phase of the service will begin, but growers and farmers are being reminded that they can still access support and advice in the meantime.

“Growers have benefited hugely from this Wales-only service which has generated more than £62.5 million in the agriculture industry,” says Welsh Minister for sustainability and rural development, Jane Davidson. “I would encourage farmers to access the services available to them.”

Farming Connect will continue to co-ordinate the transfer of information from the five sector-specific Development Centres and support the network of demonstration farms, which will continue to hold open days and awareness-raising events along with supporting the network of discussion groups.

Farming Connect will also continue to fund the Lantra training courses, where farmers can receive 50 percent off the cost of a wide range of agricultural and environmental training courses to help improve their business.

The organisation will be present at a variety of regional shows this season, with staff on hand to answer queries and talk growers though the services that are available to them.
