Organisers of Moroccan agricultural trade fair SIFEL, which took place in Agadir last week, have deemed the event a success.

The show was twice as big as last year, with some 300 exhibitors representing 30 different countries and companies attending ranged from to seed breeders to machinery manufacturers.

“All the visitors and participants say they are very happy - there’s more people here than last year and we hope to have around 1500 visitors by the end of the show,” said Malika Makdoud of organising body, IEC. “The venue is better, the exhibition is bigger and we have all the conditions we need. We have spent one year preparing for the show so we can succeed best.”

Fatiha Charrat, marketing and communications officer for Moroccan citrus exporter Delassus, agreed. She said the fair was an ideal chance for companies to strengthen contacts within the industry: “SIFEL is a good opportunity for people to look for new exporters. It’s a chance to meet all suppliers under one roof and develop more relationships and consolidate them.”
