Wholesome beats moral, new research suggests. Utalkmarketing.com reports that shoppers in Britain are willing to pay more for organic products than they are for those ethically-sourced.

Recent research carried out by the website suggests that almost half (47.5 percent) said they would be prepared to pay more for organically produced food. However, less than a third (32.9 percent) said they would be prepared to pay more for ethically produced clothing.

Of the 800 shoppers polled, 16.9 percent said they would pay less than 10 percent more, 20.2 percent said they would pay 10 to 20 percent more, 2.4 percent said they would pay 20 to 40 percent more, 0.3 percent said they would pay more than 40 percent more.

Surprisingly, the poll found that only 32.9 percent of shoppers were prepared to pay more for ethically produced clothing - not produced by child labour or in sweatshops - to ease their consciences.
