The SPA 720 unit can label all of C&C's shrink-wrapped whole cucumbers and cucumber portions.

C&C is using the system to print and apply generic labels specific to a particular chain of supermarkets, and the labels incorporate both variable data and barcodes.

A spokesperson for the cucumber grower said: 'We particularly looked for a machine that could perform the dual functions of printing and applying within a single operation.
