Serving up a citrus Treatt

Treatt is a world-leading independent ingredients supplier to the flavour and fragrance industries. It manufactures and supplies a vast inventory of innovative products including essential oils and their natural fractions. As leader in the development of flavour and fragrance ingredients, Treatt is often the first port of call for manufacturers that want to formulate new products. Treatt’s extensive stockholding of ingredients also enables its customers to buy large and small quantities at short notice.

Giles Bovill, Treatt’s global group marketing manager, says: “Our client base consists primarily of flavour houses who use our ingredients in their flavours which are then incorporated into foods and beverages.

“As with all the citrus flavours, lime products remain popular. There is an increased demand for authenticity in ingredients and our ability to offer 100 per cent natural fractions like Lime HV means than we can meet this requirement and remain a leader in the market.”

A unique, natural specialty fraction, Lime HV gives beverage products a powerful, fruity flavour. Extracted entirely from lime, Citrus aurantifolia (also known as West Indian, Mexican or Key Lime), Lime HV is 100 per cent natural. A highly volatile fraction, it provides intense, well-balanced lime notes at extremely low dosage rates - 1 part per million and less in finished product. It can also be used with other citrus creations such as lemon to add a twist.

In addition to Lime HV, Treatt also offers Lemon HV. The concentrated zesty notes of Lemon HV give freshness and lift to flavours, enhancing initial odour and flavour impact. Applications of Lemon HV and Lime HV span the full range of beverages, including soft drinks, isotonic and alcoholic drinks plus juices. Both HV products are water white, so are suitable for clear beverages.

“The current Treatt portfolio includes lemon, orange, grapefruit, mandarin and lime oils and fractions,” says Bovill. “Our citrus range is constantly expanding as new products are sourced and developed.”

Consistent product quality is ensured through Treatt’s comprehensive technical expertise, coupled with its unrivaled experience in sourcing flavour and fragrance ingredients from around the world. Treatt works closely with producers to maintain its exacting high standards.

With global turnover of £30.7 million, the company’s success is reflected in its continuing investment in research, development and logistics to bring new levels of efficiency and customer service. Treatt completed a comprehensive investment programme for its aroma-chemical distribution business. The scheme included the expansion of Treatt’s warehousing and distribution facilities at its centre in Bury St Edmunds, UK. Investments were also made in the pack-down of products, offering a more flexible and responsive service to its customers worldwide, with quality assured by Treatt’s rigorous procedures.
