Computer technology firm Select Technology has marked its 30th anniversary by announcing a change in leadership.

Based in Paddock Wood, the company is an IT partner to major fruit suppliers such as AC Goatham & Son, GrowUp Farms, and Albion Fine Foods.

Founder Nigel Potter steps aside as managing director on 1 November, after three decades at the helm, to become executive chairman. His son Nick Potter will take over as managing director.

The firm has become an IT partner for SMEs and multinationals, particularly across the southeast of England, providing services from infrastructure projects and automation consultation to the supply of hardware and software.

Nigel said: “Amazing customer experience has been central to our mission and I’m proud of our team who continue to deliver to the highest standard.

“After 30 years leading Select Technology, the time is now right to hand over the day-to-day running of the business to Nick, who, supported by our technical services director Simon Moore, will begin our next chapter.

“Three decades is a long time in any business, but while the next generation of technology may still be unknown, we are ready for it.”

Nick added: “It’s an absolute honour to be taking on this new role and I look forward to continuing the legacy and evolving the business.

“The growth of AI has the potential to change the face of technology. We are truly entering a new era.

“No matter who you are, no matter what you do, AI will impact us all. For us as a business, we will be here to support our customers as they adopt the next wave of technology-driven change.”
