Scotts launches new products

Scotts will be featuring two new products on its Four Oaks stand this year, as well as previewing a new Osmocote fertiliser which is currently being developed for top dressing applications to container nursery stock.

Osmocote ‘Hi-End’ is the first fertiliser from Scotts to use Dual Coating Technology. This means that after the initial dose of nutrients, a second coating around the granules postpones further fertilisation for two months, which effectively saves nutrients for when the plant needs a boost later on in its growing cycle.

The Ipswich-based company’s stand will also be featuring ‘Exemptor’, their new instecticide for contact and systemic use, which aims to control most major soil and foliar pests in container-grown ornamentals. The insecticide is formulated to be effective against vine weevil, aphids, whitefly and leaf beetles.

Also highlighted at this year’s show will be Agroblen, a controlled release granular fertiliser for field-grown crops, including field-grown trees, hedging and stock plants. The company says that with the fertiliser, growers can minimise the leaking of nutrients into watercourses, make a single application rather than multiple ones, minimise soil compaction when applying it, and optimise yield by providing nutrients exactly when crops demand it.
