Horticulture Link is throwing open its doors to showcase its research & development programme at a free publicity and partnering event in London on February 23.
David Cole, the programme’s co-ordinator said: “LINK has made more than 40 innovative science awards totalling £13 million, which have engaged over 200 companies across the food supply chain including retailers, packers and marketing organisations.”
The scheme already has notable successes to its name, including developing the Supasweet onion and providing a blueprint for growing British organic apples. Current projects are aimed at topics such as improving blackcurrant and salad qualities. “We are delighted to present a line-up of top speakers who will update progress in research projects expected to have a major impact in horticulture,” said Cole.
Defra will also outline the grant opportunities presented by its new policy priorities at the event, which will also enable business to mix with scientists and get involved in driving the research agenda.
“This event is a must for anyone interested in the latest research ideas in home-produce quality and environment-responsible growing,” said Cole, pictured above.
The event will be held at the Thistle Westminster Hotel, Buckingham Palace Road, London, from 11.30am to 4pm. l
