Saudi Arabian brand Milaf Cola, which is claimed to be the world’s first date-based soft drink, will be available to buy in the UK from May.

Unlike traditional soft drinks, Milaf Cola is crafted from dates – Saudi Arabia’s most prized fruit – which the manufacturer says gives it a unique and natural sweetness. The drink has already garnered significant interest online.  

Milaf is a premium date-based beverage that the company says ”blends tradition with innovation”. The brand is backed by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia as it looks to achieve global expansion.

The drink offers the nutritional benefits of dates, and is aimed at mainstream consumers as well as health-conscious individuals. It hopes to meet growing demand for authentic and naturally sweetened alternatives in the beverage sector.

The producer said that as it uses dates as its natural sweetener, Milaf Cola provides several health benefits with a classic cola taste. It is rich in essential vitamins and minerals like potassium, magnesium, and fibre, the company pointed out, and has no artificial additives, refined sugars, or preservatives.

Milaf will be launching across the UK through a combination of online and retail distribution. Consumers will be able to purchase it via Milaf’s website, Amazon, and selected retail stores. It will also be available for direct purchase on Aytac Foods’ online platform.

The brand has additionally secured a collaboration with fast-growing burger franchise Cheatmeals to stock Milaf Cola as an exclusive this month.
