Argentinian citrus firm San Miguel is celebrating its 60th anniversary at this week’s world food trade fair Anuga, held on 10-14 October in Cologne, Germany.
At a reception for 100 key industry stakeholders, suppliers and customers on the 28th floor of the KölnSky building in Cologne, San Miguel chief executive Romain Corneille shared some of the company’s plans for the future.
Two of the company’s key customers – Nina Guezenec, chief procurement officer of Suntory Beverage & Food Europe, and Paul van Wegenen, purchasing director at CP Kelco – also spoke at the reception about their relationship with San Miguel.
Finally, processed foods director Maximiliano D’Alessandro presented the company’s new business development area, which outlines San Miguel’s strategy to become an active player in the processed foods market.
“As a department exclusively dedicated to thinking about the future, this new area is focused on proactively responding to the needs of the market, quickly adapting to the new trends,” the company said.
During the evening, San Miguel also announced it is focusing on development of higher added-value products and functional food, as part of its strategy to generate innovation and lead the industry.
Anuga has this year welcomed record visitor numbers with over 7,000 exhibitors from 108 countries. With a partner country in Greece, the 2015 event had the theme of ‘Taste the Future’ and was opened by German minister Christian Schmidt and Greek minister Evangelos Apostolou.
