Wingland Foods' new despatch area

Wingland Foods, the salad arm of prepared company Bakkavor, will take on almost 300 new jobs to operate its factory extension.

The Lincolnshire-based company is looking to recruit between 50 and 70 operative positions, and around 200 roles to meet seasonal demand during summer.

Wingland Foods, in Sutton Bridge, Lincolnshire, is Bakkavor’s production base for Waitrose Salads.

Waitrose’s director for prepared food and fresh produce, Paul Walker, officially opened the doors of the new despatch area and celebrated the completion of a factory extension last Friday (28 March).

The extension, announced in October 2013, will increase capacity in the factory and support future growth, a statement said.

Mike Edwards, UK COO at Bakkavor said the factory expansion provides the opportunity to invest in local employment.“We are delighted to mark the occasion of the completion of the new despatch area at Wingland Foods,” he said.

Bakkavor supplies prepared snacks and meals to all the UK top four retailers, who sell products under respective own-brand lines.
