Sainsbury's rounds off its courgettes

Sainsbury's launched a round courgette into its vegetable range on March 17. The new line, priced at 99p, is in stores across the UK.

"As our culinary tastes become more adventurous and we turn to other countries for inspiration we discover new and exciting ways to cook with vegetables we have known for years such as courgettes. Not only are we finding new ways in which we can use courgettes, now they have changed shape," said a Sainsbury's spokesperson.

The courgettes are naturally round and a brand new product for Sainsbury's customers. "Although the round variety tastes the same as standard courgettes it has the added benefit of being versatile, it can be stuffed, steamed, boiled or fried in its whole form, which not only saves time but also adds a touch of originality to the dinner plate," the spokesperson added.

Courgette skin is rich in betacarotene. The vegetable also contains folic acid and is a rich source of potassium.
